The surrounding
The Südstadt in Bonn is one of the most popular quarters of the city. There are lots of green areas, old chestnut avenues, lively shopping areas and quiet residential streets with stucco facades of stately houses. Restaurants, pub cafés, supermarkets, doctors and all shops of daily life are within walking distance.
The Poppelsdorfer castle as well as the botanical garden of the university and the nearby forest on the Venusberg round the picture off.
The house itself is located on the outskirts of Südstadt in Schloßstraße near the Botanical Garden and Poppelsdorfer Allee. This location is perfect in Bonn: it takes about ten minutes on foot to reach the main station and the city centre, only a little further to the theatre, the Beethovenhaus and the Rhine. The university ("Campus Poppelsdorf") is in the immediate vicinity, many university facilities and faculties as well as numerous scientific institutes are within walking distance.
In the immediate vicinity of the house there is a well-stocked supermarket, a cosy bistro café and a gourmet restaurant, an antiquarian bookshop worth seeing, various boutiques, several wine and gourmet shops as well as a large number of bakeries, cafés and restaurants.
Other shops such as a laundry, a dry cleaner, a cobbler, a tailor as well as drugstores, pharmacies, flower shops and much more are within walking distance.
If you don't like to walk, there are several bus and train lines just a few minutes away.
The government district on the Rhine, Deutsche Welle, the UN Campus, the Congress Center and the Museum Mile can be reached by car in five to ten minutes, as can the Post Tower, the Telekom headquarters and most ministries. The city's most important hospitals (including the university clinic) are also only a few minutes away by car.
Even commuters live here ideally: although the house is located in an absolutely quiet area, one can reach the A 565 (exit Poppelsdorf) by car from the neighbouring Venusbergweg in one minute without traffic lights.
